Under the guidance of Chief Justice Ms. Aalia Neelum, this initiative aims to bring justice right to the doorstep of litigants, ensuring convenience and efficiency. Litigants and lawyers can now request a video-link hearing by submitting a form on the district judiciary's website (https://dsj.punjab.gov.pk) at least seven days before the scheduled date.
The video link option is a game-changer for those unable to physically appear due to various reasons, be it illness, disability, or geographical barriers. However, proclaimed offenders are not eligible for this facility.
Once approved, the court sets a date and time, and no adjournments are allowed on the hearing day. Parties must ensure their witnesses are present at the designated site an hour before proceedings, with identity verification through original CNIC or passport, and biometric authentication.
For disabled litigants, the local District Court will send an officer to their location, with travel costs covered by the litigant. Litigants abroad can participate through Pakistan's diplomatic missions, subject to court approval.
The LHC emphasizes a secure and transparent environment for video link hearings. Only the court is authorized to record, and any unauthorized recording is strictly prohibited. The requesting party covers the facility expenses and provides a USB or external hard drive (125 GB to 500 GB) for official recording, which becomes part of the case file and remains password-protected.
