According to a recent report by Counterpoint Research, Samsung now holds a staggering 64% of the global foldable market share in Q3 2025. This is a significant jump from the 56% they held the previous year. The launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 fueled this surge, boosting Samsung's overall shipments by a remarkable 32%.
But here's where it gets interesting: the success of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 can be attributed to several key improvements. The device boasts a slimmer frame, lighter hardware, enhanced hinge durability, and a less visible crease. These upgrades significantly broadened its appeal, leading to impressive sales.
While other players like Huawei, Motorola, and Vivo also saw improvements in their shipment volumes, Samsung's growth was exceptional. However, Honor and Xiaomi experienced declines in their shipment totals.
This resurgence underscores Samsung's strategic moves to enhance the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Before its launch, in Q2, Samsung's foldable shipments were trailing behind both Huawei and Motorola.
Interestingly, Google's Pixel Fold series isn't mentioned, which isn't surprising, as it remains a niche product in this already specialized market segment.
The report also highlights that established brands like Samsung and Huawei are demonstrating clear technological leadership and refining their product differentiation strategies. This is particularly crucial as Apple is expected to launch its foldable iPhone next year. Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold is a prime example of their innovative approach.
