From Local Gym to NBA Stardom: Oshkosh North Celebrates a Champion's Journey!
It's not every day a high school gets to welcome back one of its own who's reached the pinnacle of professional sports. Oshkosh North High School recently had the distinct honor of inducting NBA All-Star Tyrese Haliburton into its Hall of Fame, a testament to his incredible journey from their gymnasium to the global basketball stage.
Haliburton, who was instrumental in leading the Oshkosh North boys' basketball team to a state championship during his senior year, returned to his alma mater to accept this prestigious recognition. "Me being here, I’m able to do a lot of different things in the basketball world, to achieve my dreams, which means the world to me," he stated. "But I wasn’t able to do that by just hoping and putting a lot of hope in it, you know? His former coach, Brad Weber, expressed immense pride in Haliburton's accomplishments. Coach Weber echoed this feeling of shared pride: "He’s one of us. So I think anytime that you see somebody that you’re connected with, or has walked the halls and been in the classes that you have, to know that kind of level of success does happen to people that come through these doors is exciting for them, but also we’re excited for him." Haliburton concluded his address with an encouraging send-off to the students: "Just dream big. Anything is possible if you put in the right amount of work."
